Julien MacDonald SS18 Fashion Show

Julien MacDonald SS18 Fashion Show London Events Halo Lighting

Client: My Beautiful City for Julien MacDonald         Venue: Bankside Vaults       Date: September 2017

The Brief:

As a sole AV Supplier for Pulse nightclub and working in collaboration with creative agency My Beautiful city, Halo was asked to provide power and lighting for the Julien MacDonald’s SS18 Fashion Show, during London Fashion Week 2017. The main requirement was to create focused pools of light on the catwalks, of the exact same size and lit in a way that would give the impression that the models were walking in and out of darkness. This was to keep with the designer’s image of high octane and glamorous designs, focused towards nighttime wear and the ‘parallel universe’ concept, with a focus on the futuristic and minimal.

The Event:

First we had to fit a custom truss rig using Scaffold towers and scissor lifts to fix the lights. To create the focused spots, we used 60 Source Four Junior Zooms and focused them by hand to achieve the exact same diameter required on each spot. The light beams were further emphasized with some Hazers. A general wash for the rest of the space and to fully light the photo pit, 500W Fresnel’s were put on tank trap stands.
At the end of the show, the two CO2 Confetti Cannons we had installed fired 8 kg of blue and silver confetti. The overall impact of the lighting and special effects received coverage in some of the top fashion magazines, including Vogue.
The event was attended by a number of high profile celebrities, including Amanda Holden, Tom Daley, Ronan Keating and Rachel Stevens and many high-profile models took part in the show, including Hailey Baldwin, Alessandra Ambrosio, Martha hunt and Winnie Harlow, who led the show.
