The Brief
Heinz were opening their new European Innovation centre in Nijmegen, Netherlands in 2012. Working with design agency Acrylicize, the brief was to create an architectural feature that would show the history of the company to both employees and visitors.
The Installation
The 20m x 4m wall was designed by Acrylicize, starting with the iconic Keystone shape. This was then broken up to show windows telling the story of the brand. Halo installed both the LEDS into the wall divides and some plasma screens in some of the windows. We also installed a Dot matrix display that allowed messages to be displayed on the wall. These were programmed using Showcad, who came out to assist with the programming. The whole installation was completed within 8 days.
The Project won the Sign of the Year at the BSGA (British Sign and Graphics Association) Award for its innovative use of neon lighting and retro signage, as well as bespoke art installations.
The Challenges
The main challenges were the very tight schedule of the project, as well as working seamlessly alongside many people.
