On April 20th David Dein had his annual Charity gala for his brilliant charity the Twinning Project. A football based charity that provides younger underprivileged people in the UK easier access to training to become a football coach. You can check out their website here. David enlisted Halo’s help with the production, located in the iconic Abbey Road Studios.

Halo's Gala Dinner Production Process

Halo kitted out studio 2 of Abbey Road with all the necessary equipment the event called for. A setup that could handle talks, interviews, slideshows and a live auction all under one roof, so we brought everything we had.

At the heart of the production was Halo’s LED wall and PA system. A 5m x 3m Unilumin screen formed the centrepiece, complemented by bespoke rigging, draping and a backdrop tailored to The Twinning Project’s branding — setting the tone before the evening had even begun.

Audio was covered by over 30 pieces of equipment, built around our d&b audiotechnik collection and a Shure Axient 8-way wireless microphone system — clean, clear sound from the first speaker to the final auction lot. You can find our full audio kit here.

The lighting rig was where things really came to life. Robe Patt 2013s brought a touch of retro character, while our full Astera kit — AX9s, AX2s and AX7s — added a clean and sleek atmosphere, important for charity gala dunner productions. Robe Painters and LEDBeams, alongside Chauvet and Ayrton fixtures, rounded out a rig that matched the scale and spirit of the night.

A guest list for the occasion

The gala dinner production brought together an impressive array of attendees from the footballing world. These included:

  • Arsene Wenger – Arsenal icon. Who spoke about his ideas on Arsenal’s title chances (high,) his new offside procedures and his opinions on what the future modern footballer would look like.
  • Football management royalties Glenn Hoddle and Roy Hodgson who spoke about England’s World Cup hopes (high) and Roy’s recent managerial return to Bristol City FC.
  • Sir Gareth Southgate who spoke about his career in management and as a footballer himself.
  • Alfe-Inga Haaland who brought his son Erling’s ripped shirt from the previous weekends Arsenal Vs Man City match (score unknown) and put it up for auction to raise funds.
