Repair & Service Technician

Job Title: Repair & Service Technician

Reports To: Technical Assets Manager

Role Overview:

The Repair and Service Technician is responsible for maintaining Halo’s high-quality equipment to the highest operational standards through repair, servicing, preventative maintenance and quality control. The role plays a key part in supporting asset reliability, extending equipment life cycles, reducing downtime and ensuring equipment is fully prepared, tested and fit for deployment across live events and installations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Equipment Repair & Fault Finding – Diagnose faults and carry out repairs across lighting, audio, AV and associated production equipment, escalating specialist repairs where required.

• Testing & Quality Control – Test equipment thoroughly following repair and as part of ongoing QC procedures, ensuring all assets meet Halo Lighting’s standards before being returned to stock or deployed.

• Operational Support – Work closely with warehouse, prep and project teams to prioritise urgent repairs, support equipment availability and respond to operational requirements.

• Preventative Maintenance – Perform scheduled servicing and routine maintenance to ensure equipment reliability, safety and operational readiness, helping reduce failures and extend asset life.

• Service Records & Reporting – Update repair logs, maintenance records and service histories accurately, flagging recurring faults, damaged assets or replacement recommendations.

• Stock & Parts Management – Monitor spare parts, consumables and repair requirements, assisting with sourcing components and recommending cost-effective repair versus replacement decisions.

• Continuous Improvement – Identify opportunities to improve maintenance processes, asset reliability, testing procedures and workshop efficiency.

Skills & Experience Required

• Proven experience in equipment repair, servicing or technical maintenance within live events, AV, lighting, and audio.

• Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills, with a practical understanding of lighting, sound, AV and associated production equipment.

• Good knowledge of preventative maintenance practices, testing procedures and quality control standards.

• Understanding of electrical safety, equipment handling and relevant health & safety procedures.

• Strong organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise workload, manage competing demands and respond to urgent operational requirements.

• Practical, hands-on approach with strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

• Ability to work independently, take initiative and contribute effectively within a team environment.

• Flexible approach to working hours when required to support operational demands

• Experience repairing intelligent lighting fixtures, power distribution or LED systems.

Key responsibilities

· Promptly deal with enquiries – mostly emails and phone.

· Advise client on requirements and options.

· Discuss additional options – upsell if in client’s best interest.

· Process hires once confirmed – Sub-hire equipment if required.

· Ensure invoices are raised and payment is received before goods leave.

· Oversee equipment preps in conjunction with warehouse manager.

· Post-Hire:

o Ensure equipment and accessories are all returned and in good order – otherwise raise a Loss or Damaged note and take up with client.

Senior Prep Manager

Preps Manager – AV, Lighting, Audio & Special Effects

Role Overview:

We are looking for an experienced Preps Manager to manage the preparation of outgoing equipment for event productions and hires

You will play a critical role in ensuring equipment leaves the warehouse accurate, fully functional, and presented to the highest standard, while also supporting continuous improvement across prep operations

This is a vital operational role within the business, working closely with the Technical, Logistics and Production departments

Key Responsibilities

Operational & Technical role

· Manage the prep process for event productions and hires, ensuring 100% accuracy against job spec

· Ensure all equipment is tested, checked, labelled, and presented to Halo’s high standards before dispatch

· Ensure all listed kit’s contents are present and functional

Planning, Coordination & Logistics

· Work closely with the Warehouse Manager, Hire Manager and Event Operations Manager to plan prep schedules and vehicle loading

· Coordinate with De-Prep and Check-In teams to maintain efficient stock rotation and minimise turnaround times

· Anticipate upcoming workload pressures and flag resourcing or timing risks early

· Support event timelines by ensuring prep is aligned with production schedules and delivery windows

Systems, Stock & Compliance

· Use warehouse scanning and stock management systems to allocate equipment

· Support stock control, asset care, and loss prevention processes

· Ensure prep bays and working areas remain clean, organised, and compliant with H&S standards

· Contribute to continuous improvement of warehouse processes and workflows

Wider Responsibilities

· Drive improvements in prep efficiency, contribute ideas and feedback for kit utilisation, and team performance

· Act as a key operational contact between warehouse and hires / event operations departments

Required Skills & Experience

· Either extensive experience in warehouse operations or on-site work within the UK live events industry (essential)

Working closely with clients, venue partners, and the Halo team, the role ensures that every
technical and creative element is executed to the highest standard.

projects. Working closely with clients, venue partners, and the Halo team, the role ensures that
every technical and creative element is executed to the highest standard. This is very much a role
where teamwork is important, and we therefore expect our candidates to favour office work.

The role calls for someone with strong attention to detail, good time management, and the confidence to take ownership of for small productions. Working closely with clients, venue partners, and the Halo team, the role ensures that all technical and creative elements are executed to the highest standard.
