Halo and Robe's 20 Year relationship
Halo’s relationship with Robe lighting goes back to the early 2000s, when we first invested in a set of 20 Robe 1200 Spots – a bold move at a time when moving head technology was still finding its feet in the UK events industry. Those fixtures quickly proved themselves on site after site, delivering the reliability and punch we needed to start winning bigger, more technically demanding productions.
Two decades on, that early investment has grown into one of the most versatile lighting arsenals in our inventory. We now run 10 different Robe fixture types, from the precision beam work of the Robin Pointe through to the dynamic, multi-beam effects of the Robe Spiider and the compact punch of the Robe Spikie. Each generation of Robe fixture has brought something new to our design toolkit with sharper optics, smarter control and smaller footprints and each one has earned its place in our kit the same way those original 1200 Spots did: through consistent, dependable performance on real events, under real pressure.
It’s a partnership that mirrors Halo’s own growth. What started as a handful of fixtures for early productions has become a core part of how we light everything from historic venues like Abbey Road to large-scale brand activations and public sector events across London. When you’re producing events inside one of the world’s most iconic recording studios, the lighting has to earn its place in the room. At Halo, two Robe fixtures have become staples of our event production London work at Abbey Road Studios: the Robe Pointe and the Robe PATT family. Both bring something different to the table, and together they let us light everything from broadcast-scale conferences to intimate private parties without compromising the character of the venue.
Robe Pointe: precision lighting for high-profile productions
The Robe Pointe is a hybrid beam, spot, wash and FX fixture, and that versatility is exactly why it earns repeat bookings on our biggest Abbey Road briefs, including the ICC Hall of Fame ceremony and the Mastercard and Dynamic Yield conference. With a 280W discharge light source, a 20-degree zoom range and rotating or static glass gobo projection, it gives our lighting designers the flexibility to shift between a tight, punchy aerial beam and a broader wash without swapping fixtures mid-show. Its output reaches close to 9,870 lumens, so it holds its own even in a room full of camera crews, branded signage and a full PA rig.Â
For corporate productions where every second is being filmed or livestreamed, that clarity matters. The Pointe’s sharp parallel beam cuts cleanly through haze and across video, which means it reads well on camera as well as in the room — essential when a client like Mastercard is filming content for their own channels alongside the live event. Robe PATT: retro styling that respects Abbey Road's heritage
Where the Pointe handles the technical heavy lifting, the Robe PATT does something different: it looks right in a space with as much history as Abbey Road. Taking its inspiration from vintage broadcast lighting, the PATT 2013 and its siblings are built with a sleek, spun aluminium body that gives them a warm, retro glow rather than the cold, clinical look of a typical stage fixture. It’s a design language that sits comfortably in a studio where the walls are lined with 90+ years of music history — the fixtures feel like they belong, not like they’ve been dropped in.
What makes both fixtures genuinely useful for us as a production company is their range. On the Pointe side, we can scale up for a full conference production with hundreds of attendees, sharp gobo branding on the walls, and camera-ready beam work for a client like Mastercard. On the PATT side, we can dial things right back for a private birthday party or an intimate brand activation, using the warm tungsten-style glow to create atmosphere rather than spectacle.
